A kind-hearted volunteer took in a small rescued kitten to provide temporary care, but the furry feline had different ideas in mind for his next adventure.
Earlier this year, the mcComb Animal Shelter in mississippi welcomed a kitten in need of some tender loving care. He was rescued by a kind stranger who found him in a distressing situation, being mistreated by some youngsters on the street. madison VanNess, a dedicated volunteer at the shelter, decided to pay a visit to the little feline after hearing his cries from his enclosure. Upon approaching him, the kitten became even more vocal, craving attention and affection.
“I scooped him up and he immediately started purring in my arms. He then climbed onto my shoulders and started nuzzling my face. It was a moment of instant connection,” madison shared with Love meow.
madison VanNess, under the username @gatsbycatsby19, sharedaout her experience with a pitiful and dirty cat that she found at the shelter. After ensuring the cat was in decent health, she decided to take him home to foster him. She affectionately named him Gatsby, expecting him to be with her until he was ready for adoption like her previous fosters. However, the Snowshoe kitty had a different idea in mind.
When Gatsby walked into the house, he wasted no time in making himself comfortable. Fearless and full of confidence, he bonded easily with the other pets in the house. madison, the owner, was surprised at how quickly Gatsby settled in. “He snuggled up with my dachshunds and dozed off without a care in the world. my cats didn’t faze him at all. He racedaound the house like a little tornado but would also nestle in my lap when he needed a break,” madison explained.
“I’ve fostered many cats in the past, but none have adapted as smoothly as Gatsby did.”
madison VanNess @gatsbycatsby19 Gatsby has such a vibrant personality. He’s always expressing himself and making sure he gets noticed whenever he needs something.
“He’s really chatty. He thrives on getting attention from everyone and is quick to make new friends.”
madison VanNess, also known as @gatsbycatsby19, shared that her cat Gatsby loves cuddling up close to your face for pets and ear scratches. He enjoys play fighting with their female dachshund Willow and following their male dachshund Oreo around the house.
You can see Gatsby’s adorable antics and hear his sweet meow in a video documenting his journey from being rescued to finding his forever home. According to madison, Gatsby is a typical kitten who loves to run around, jump on counters, and beg for food. However, she also mentioned that he has a mischievous side, as he often sneaks into cabinets, grabs snacks, and runs off with them in his mouth.
madison VanNess, known as @gatsbycatsby19 on social media, shared how Gatsby made an effort to befriend their cat Peach, who was not a fan of kittens, and also bonded well with Yoshi, another cat in the household. After a while, Gatsby managed to win madison’s heart even more. When it was time for Gatsby to reach the two-pound mark for his surgery, madison took him back to the shelter. They decided that if their home felt empty without Gatsby around, they wouldaopt him. madison revealed to Love meow how Gatsby had truly captured their heart.
madison VanNess, also known as @gatsbycatsby19 on social media, humorously described the initial awkwardness of bringing Gatsby into her home. Without the constant meowing or face nuzzling that is often associated with cats, the silence felt strange at first. However, the following Friday, madison took the necessary steps to make Gatsby officially part of her family by completing the adoption paperwork and snapping a photo to commemorate the occasion.
madison VanNess, known as @gatsbycatsby19 on social media, dedicated more than a year volunteering at mcComb Shelter. During her time there, she not only fostered numerous animals but also developed a special bond with a furry friend named Gatsby. The shelter shared that Gatsby captured madison’s heart, and that afternoon, he left the shelter to start his new life with his forever family. They took him home where he truly belongs.
madison VanNess @gatsbycatsby19 shared, “Our furry friend has brought so much joy into our lives. We adore him immensely and I can’t imagine our home without his presence!”
